And vis a vis Grice's own defense of his terribly obscure analysis of "I" in terms of successive memes in his early "Personal Identity" (aged in his 20s). "Surely the crudity and complexity of my analysis is no excuse for its being true" (or words)
Oddly, Grice's "Personal Identity" was nicely revisited by Derek Parfit -- and we never found it 'obscure'!
