Grice's Quandary About Personal Identity

When Grice invited D. F. Pears to give a talk at Berkeley on Hume on personal identity, he was reminded of Price, Strawson, and his own non-circular conception of it as a logical construction in terms of memory.
Of course, like Strawson and Grice, Pears was a member of Austin's 'kindergarten,' hence Grice's invitation to deliver a lecture at Berkeley!
