"as the name suggests" -- as the name _implicates_, or entails?

As I prepare for the wedding (of William and Catherine) I read in wiki:

Division of the field.

"More usually, however, a quartered coat of arms consisted of four parts, as
the name suggests."

This struck me as unGriceian.

Surely it is the _utterer_ who suggests, or implicates, if you must. The name _entails_, rather.

Or something.
