The renowned Oxford logician, Whately, wrote:

he who is governed by that maxim is not an
honest man."
Discuss. Vis a vis Grice's notion of 'maxim' under the Category of Quality. And conclude favourably towards Grice and if you can towards Whately -- but not necessarily towards Kant. Etc.
