Dos and Don'ts of Grice

In Victorian times "don't" for doesn't seems to have been perfectly
acceptable.

Viz. the Lord Chancellor's

"Every fairy shall die who don't marry a mortal".

Etc.

---

Ditto for

"Jack will break his crown".

In pre-Victorian times, this had an -s to it:

Jack wills to break his crown.

Apparently common sense pervaded. Etc.
