From Chapman, p. 18.

"I was never invited to Austin's get-togethers at All Souls, me having been brought up on the wrong side of the tracks".

Surely he wasn't!

I discussed this in chora and an American-Jewish member congratulated me, "I am so pleased class trumps ethnicity!"

I never knew if he was being ironic, but he was implicating that most of the All Souls members _were_ Anglo-Jewish: Berlin, _and_ Hart.
