Locke and Grice

Sorry for the uninspired title but a ref. to Yolton, who you HAVE to read if you want, as Chapman does, p. 72, consider the Locke-Grice connection -- and fail!

    Yolton is a genius. Of course, for Locke, as for Grice, there are three ways:

    -- the way of words
    -- the way of things
    -- the way of ideas

    Not in that order, of course!
